steps to set up an effective business account on pinterest

Start Reading

Pinterest is an American image sharing and social media service designed to enable saving and discovery of information on the internet using images and, on a smaller scale, animated GIFs and videos, in the form of pinboards. Again, like all other socials, Pinterest is accessible

from any device of your choice. You can either download it or visit it through browsers, just type in pinterest.com.

Let’s see how to set up a good Pinterest profile…

When you type in pinterest.com, you will land on a page like this

Here you can click on sign up, at the top right corner.

One thing to remember here is that Pinterest has a little different interface than the other apps and it gets a little difficult to get your hand on it initially, so make sure you create a profile with a lot of attention and enter every detail correctly at once and make a separate account for your business, do not merge it with your personal account.

Once you fill in all the details you are good to go but as I said earlier, Pinterest is a little different, here are a few terms you need to know before you get started,

Pinner

Just like, Instagram has ‘grammers’ Pinterest has Pinners. “Pinner'' is the branded term for a person who uses Pinterest.

Pins

A pin is a post published on Pinterest. It can be an image or video, text, and can link back to an original source.

RePins

A RePin occurs when someone pins a post they didn’t create to one of their boards, just like a reshare.

Promoted Pins

Promoted pins are regular pins that brands have paid to promote. These pins appear in the home feed and search results and include a “Promoted” label. Promoted video pins, carousel, and app pins are also available.

Rich Pins

Rich Pins provide more information on the pin-like price information. They are available in four types: Product Pins, Recipe Pins, Article Pins, and App Pins.

Shop the Look Pins

With Shop the Look pins, brands can add product tags to their posts, by doing this it becomes easier for the pinners to shop the items presented in the image.

Boards

Pinterest boards are like digital pinboards. You can categorize different pins according to their categories and save them systematically. For example, you can create a board on room decor or party decorations.

Group Boards

Group boards are the same as boards, except more than one person can add content.

Secret Boards

A secret board can only be seen by the person who created it or other collaborators. When you create one, you’ll see a lock symbol beside the board name. These are useful for planning you don’t want to be made public.

Protected Boards

Protected boards contain promoted pins and are only available to advertisers. Pins on these boards can be seen across Pinterest, but the boards do not show on profiles.

Save Button

The save button is a Pinterest browser plugin for browsers. You can install it on your website so that Pinners can save your products to their Pinterest boards.

Audience Insights

If you have a Pinterest business account, then you can have access to analytics via Audience Insights.

Pinterest Lens

Available on all devices, Pinterest Lens is a camera tool that lets users take a picture and find related content on the site.

Pincodes

Pincodes are QR codes that direct the scanner to your profile. They can be scanned digitally or as a label on and package.
